How much weight can 40mm rope hold?
They start at approx 10 tonnes going up to 23 tonnes. The highest break load 40mm rope we stock is 40mm Polysteel which holds 23,868kg. We always advise buying a rope that has a break load of 30% over the weight of the objects you plan to hold/lift/pull.
You can select a higher or lower diameter rope from this page if the 40mm rope break loads are not suitable.
Is this the thickest rope that you sell?
No, we also sell 60mm diameter. We also sell pre-spliced mooring ropes with diameters up to 96mm on our large vessel mooring page.
Is it suitable for making a doorstop?
Yes. It can be placed in front of a door to stop it from opening or closing. It is also used to stop drafts from entering through the gap at the bottom of the door. Natural fiber ropes tend to be the preferred option for this application.
